Making video content even more accessible
At Blue Billywig, we’re on a mission to make video content accessible to everyone, creating a digital world that everyone can enjoy, free from barriers. Therefore, we’re excited to have launched support for sign language interpretations in our video player.
Why sign language?
Sign language provides an alternative to text based accessibility such as subtitles and (interactive) transcripts. People who are fluent in sign language often prefer it over text based alternatives since it allows you to convey additional information such as emotions and intonation. Next to this, it’s also often preferred by people who have difficulty reading and comprehending text like subtitles.

Getting started with sign language
Whether you have your own in-house sign language interpreter or are looking for one, we’ve got you covered!
Simply navigate to the video within the media library and hop on over to the “Languages and accessibility” tab to upload your sign language file. Don’t have one yet? Request the generation of one using our integration with one of our partners. It will be added to your video automatically once it’s done.
And that’s it! Our video player will automatically show a button to enable the sign language interpretation if it’s available for a specific video. This allows viewers to enable it at their own discretion and provides you with a simple way of embedding a fully accessible video on your website. Gone are the days of providing cumbersome alternatives for people with diverse abilities.
